Town Planning Report - Expansion to Noosa Landfill
“Specialist services and practical solutions”
extent of the current landfill operation providing for more operational space within the site
and improving environmental outcomes and flood resilience.
The proposed development will result in the removal of regulated vegetation, which cannot
be avoided. Further, is a logical extension to the existing landfill operation in the circumstances,
being a finger of vegetation that protrudes into the existing landfill and is suffering from edge
effects. The loss of vegetation needs to be considered in context with the large portion of land
(Lot 77 - about 200ha), which is to be mostly protected as a nature reserve, despite the current
zoning for a community purpose.
The proposed development should be approved subject to reasonable and relevant
conditions, given the demonstrated need and the environmental offset being provided.
