1.2      Site Layout
The proposed layout is shown on Figure 1.2. Figures 1.3 & 1.4 present the site elevations.
The proposed site will comprise:
      ➢ two automatic car wash bays and associated mechanical plant located within a plantroom;
      ➢ two manual wash bays;
      ➢ two manual super wash bays;
      ➢ two small dog wash bays;
      ➢ four covered vacuum bays located on the north eastern property boundary; and
      ➢ a small take-away coffee shop located adjacent to Opal Street, serving take-away food and
        drinks only
It is understood that the hours of operation for the site will be 24 hours per day 7 days per week.
The noise impacts associated with the site include:
      ➢ The automatic wash bays;
      ➢ The mechanical plant associated with the site;
      ➢ Vehicles on site
      ➢ The vacuum bays;
      ➢ Manual wash bays; and
      ➢ Air conditioning and mechanical plant associated with the coffee shop.
Table 1.1 shows the percentage breakdown of usage that has been applied to determine the
appropriate noise levels during the 24 hour operations. These percentages have been based on the
actual breakdown usage at car wash sites around Australia. It is important to note that these
represent a worst-case scenario at a high capacity major city based site. Similar smaller town sites
to this one have recorded reduced usage levels, especially during the nighttime period. The hourly
number using the plant has also been included. This is based on the average time taken for each
piece of equipment (ie the average automatic car wash bay takes 5 minutes). Note that these
averages have been taken from over 40 sites around Australia. The hourly number is based on each
item of plant, ie for manual bays, the number is related to per bay per hour, not the total usage of
all bays.
