MCU12/0184 Concerns about development approval Joe Veraa
Subject: 1192 dw MCU12/0184 FYI councillors Pollution and roads From: Joe Veraa Date: 2013-12-05T00:18:50+00:00 To: Internet Mailbox Sunshine Coast Regional Council, Cr Rick Baberowski, Cr Tim Dwyer, Cr Peter Cox, Cr Chris Thompson, Cr Jenny McKay, Cr Christian Dickson, Cr Ted Hungerford, Cr Jason O'Pray, Cr Stephen Robinson, Cr Greg Rogerson, Cr Russell Green - Tewantin Office, Cr Tony Wellington - Tewantin Office Good morning Councillors, I passed a serious accident yesterday on the Cooroy - Belli Creek Road. This road is only narrow and very winding. Old Ceylon Road is even narrower. Both roads are sealed and are fine for local traffic, but not really adequate for trucks. Top Forestry Road is just a windy gravel road. Yet, these roads are being seriously considered for regular use by double B trucks. A quite disturbing prospect. I live in Old Ceylon Road, Cooroy, and I am very concerned about the proposed intensive chicken farm on Top Forestry Road. I am also very concerned about the pollution from this farm (on top of a hill, with creeks below) going into the waterways, as well as the airborne pollutants that would affect my tank (drinking) water. My concern is that many Councillors were considering approving this proposal, despite recommendations from Council officers to the contrary. I realise that many of you will not be responsible for this part of your Council area come January 1. However, I think you would still like to demonstrate to your current constituents, that you listened to good advice, listened to concerned voters, and would not impose an industry in an area for which it is clearly not suitable. Thank you for considering my concerns. Kind Regards Joe Veraa
