Protected Plant Survey Report
2.3 Nomenclature
Scientific names for terrestrial flora are consistent with those used in the Census of the Queensland
Flora (Bostock & Holland 2016) and botanical binomials presently accepted by the Queensland
Herbarium. An asterisk (*) preceding a species name indicates a non-native exotic species
2.4 Coordinate System and Map Datum
Positional data was collected using a handheld Global Positioning System (GPS) unit, with accuracy
between 4 and 8 m. Locations were recorded using a Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM)
coordinate system with a GDA94 datum. All locations presented in this report are within UTM zone
56J.
3. RESULTS
3.1 Desktop Review Results
The Wildlife Online data indicated that the high risk area may be buffering several records of the
EVNT flora species listed in Table 1.
Table 1 Threatened Species Previously Recorded Within 2km of the Study Area (Wildlife Online)

3.2 Field Survey Results
Survey tracks and habitats over the Clearing Impact Area are shown in Figure 2. All species
observed were recorded.
The vegetation mapped within the survey area consists of:
RE12.9-10.17 (Least Concern Vegetation Management Act 1999 (VM Act) and No Concern at Present
(Biodiversity (BD) Status - Eucalyptus acmenoides, E. major, E. siderophloia +/- Corymbia
citriodora subsp. variegata woodland on sedimentary rocks
RE 12.9-10.1 (Of Concern (VM Act) and Of Concern (BD Status)) – Tall open forest often with
Eucalyptus resinifera, E. grandis, E. robusta, Corymbia intermedia on sedimentary rocks. Coastal
Field surveys generally supported the State mapping with the following community descriptions
present:
Predominant canopy layer (T1)
• medium density, to 26m height
• Co-dominant Eucalyptus major, Lophostemon confertus, Syncarpia glomerulifera;
Associated E.microcorys, E.grandis
Sub-canopy tree layer (T2)
• Sparse, to 15m height
• Dominant Backhousia myrtifolia; Associated L.confertus, Alphitonia excelsa
