Statement of significance
St Luke’s Anglican Church (former) is a place of local heritage significance as it demonstrates the

establishment and growth of religious institutions in the Kin Kin area and wider Noosa region as
evidenced by, but not limited to, criterion a), d) and g) of the Noosa Council LHR.

 

SZ 1. Historical - the place makes a significant contribution to our understanding of local
history.

St Luke’s Anglican Church (former), constructed in 1926, is important in demonstrating the
evolution of religious services in the Kin Kin area and wider Noosa Shire. The place represents the
growth of Kin Kin and the establishment and development of religious, social and cultural
institutions in the town during the early twentieth century. In addition, the church demonstrates the
growth and consolidation of the Anglican Church in regional Queensland and local community
efforts in meeting their spiritual needs.

St Luke’s Anglican Church (former) demonstrates the principal characteristics of regional church
architecture practiced in the early twentieth century. It is a simple timber building with gable roof
