Slope Stability Assessment

2.5 Surface Drainage
The topographical position of the house means there is a negligible upslope catchment, however the crest
of the spur leading west would present a drainage path towards the shed. It is noted that the ground surface
does have positive fall away from both structures however, with the ground form generally expected to aid
shedding.
Surface water should drain well from the site considering the moderately steep natural gradients, and
relatively shallow depth to apparent ‘rockhead.’
2.6 Vegetation
The site was mostly cleared with a surface consisting of periodically slashed grass. Large mature trees were
present to the east, west and south of the proposed house; and to the south of the proposed shed.
The large mature trees observed in the vicinity of the proposed house and shed were noted to be relatively
‘plumb.’ Where trees are tilted or distorted in their growth, this can be (but is not necessarily always) a sign
of instability.
2.7 Buildings and Other Structures
No formal structures were present on site at the time of our assessment.
3.0 ASSESSMENT OF LAND STABILITY
3.1 Existing Conditions
NC mapping (Ref. Text Figure 9 below) indicates that the site is considered to be within an area of Moderate
landslide hazard.
