Possible Implications for Noosa Shire:
The proposal under consideration for the raising of the Borumba Dam wall for a pumped hydroelectricity scheme. The water scheme for Noosa residents
is partly supplied by an intake on the Mary River (piped through to the water treatment facility at Lake MacDonald), and Noosa Council is concerned for the
impact on raising the dam wall on environmental flows in the Mary River, and impact on the reliability of the water supply for Noosa's population.
Recommended Approach for Council to Pursue:
Noosa Shire Council is a primary stakeholder in the scheme design, and seeks to be engaged proactively moving forward in the plan preparation and
consultation process. Concerns for any additional water allocation to support proposed raising of the Borumba Dam for pumped hydroelectricity scheme,
which may diminish capacity for water allocation for Noosa Shire residents from the Mary River intake at Imbil.
