The site in question is a rural residential property where the owner has undertaken significant earthworks without approval and the application is in response to an advisory letter. FYI Officers visited the site twice (initial inspection and a follow up) and the owner engaged a suitably qualified person to assist with the site works and provide documentation for the application. The owner is requesting a fee reduction but without nominating a value. The application fee from the schedule is $2,258 (minor fee for works not relating to RAL, MCU or other development approval). There is another base fee of $1195 for items not in the schedule. In my opinion I don’t believe that the lesser fee of $1,195 is applicable due to the officer time spent already, the extent of works that have been undertaken and the assessment still to be undertaken. I do believe that we could reasonably reduce the higher fee as the professional documentation submitted would reduce the assessment time. A reduction of fees to 80% is considered reasonable.
