5.     Disaster Assistance MoU with Sunshine Coast Council
As part of the development of the previous Plan, a Council to Council Disaster Assistance
Memorandum of Understanding was agreed between the Sunshine Coast and Noosa Council.
This MoU was due to expire on the 30 June 2015. It has however now been extended for a
further 3 years - refer to Attachment 3.

Previous Council Consideration

That Council note the report by the Director Community Services to the Infrastructure & Services
Committee dated 9 December 2014 and:
A.   Appoint members to the Noosa Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) for 2015 as set
     out in Attachment 1; and
B.   Request the Local Disaster Coordinator in liaison with the Noosa LDMG to develop a
     Noosa Local Disaster Management Plan for adoption by Council prior to 30 June 2015.

Finance & Risk
Adoption of the Noosa Local Disaster Management Plan 2015/16 and the Noosa Local Disaster
Recovery Plan 2015/16 is required to meet Council’s obligations under the Disaster Management
Act 2003.

Failing to have a current and practical Disaster Management Plan in place would leave Council
exposed to an unacceptable level of risk as it would not be adequately prepared to effectively
manage a disaster event.

Council provides funds for Disaster Management Operations and the SES in its annual budget.
