INFRASTRUCTURE & SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 23 JUNE 2015

4.    Systems & Processes

Libraries continue to look for new solutions to drive efficiencies in labour intensive or back-end
processes. For example, in March, Libraries successfully commissioned an online payment
platform for fee-based events. The payment platform links to the online bookings system so that
people can book and pay for events, workshops, annual fees and venue hire through the library
website. This reduces the workload and cash handling associated with manual payments.

The tender process for the management of the Espresso café at Cooroy Library has been
completed with United Synergies being awarded the tender. This will reduce an operational
burden from library staff and provide a greater community benefit.

5.    Upcoming Priorities

The upcoming priorities of the Libraries teams include:
 Commencement of the “Robots for Everyone” project with the Nao humanoid robot expected
   in early July;
 Formation of the Libraries Strategic Plan Reference Group;
 Transition of the Cooroy Library café from staff operation to United Synergies;
 Filling gaps in the library’s collection to better meet customer demands; and
 Commencement of Noosa’s Best Start early literacy program which is being funded through
   the Queensland Government.

Galleries

1.    Finance

Management of gallery services aims to responsibly balance community expectations and needs
with available resources. Council delivers gallery services from general ratepayer funds. Services
are further subsidised through revenue, grants, sponsorship and significant contributions by
volunteers.
