Ecological Assessment Report
3 - 7 Serenity Close, Noosa Heads
4.3 WATERWAYS AND WETLANDS
The site is located within the Noosa River catchment and the Weyba Creek subcatchment.
Queensland Department of Environment and Science’s Wetland Mapping and
Classification v5.0 (‘Queensland Wetlands Map’) (Department of Environment and Science
2019) is a set of comprehensive, non-regulatory maps of Queensland’s wetlands at a scale
and level of detail that help wetland managers make accurate decisions about the
protection and care of wetlands. The Queensland Wetlands Map indicates that the site
contains wetland mosaic regional ecosystems described as Coastal / Sub-Coastal non-
floodplain tree swamps (Melaleuca and Eucalypt)) (Figure 17).
Site inspection indicated that the development footprint does not contain any waterways
or wetlands. The latter is consistent with the Noosa Council Biodiversity, Waterways and
Wetlands Overlay Map. Whilst the site is mapped as wetland mosaic RE 12.2.5 (palustrine
wetland) and some Melaleuca quinquenervia were present in downslope areas along the
southern boundary of the site, no wetlands were observed on site.
