SETTLERS COVE NOOSA Landscape Master Plan anmeeEewew we ee ee ee ee 20. SWALE SYSTEMS Swale and ephemeral streams shall be integrated into the landscape as a treatment for stormwater runoff or parts of treatment trains for irrigated gardens. This will be done in a way to enhance the aesthetic value while allowing designed processes of infiltration and vegetative filtration to function. Vegetation incorporated into swale systems shall be dominated by native sedges and rushes with minimal maintenance requirements such as mowing and fertilising. Refer to figures 5 & 6 (LM 04 & LM 05) for locations of swales in Road Reserves for Single Residential & High Density Residential Lots respectively. The opportunity to incorporate some shrubs and trees may arise to add structural diversity and | aesthetic value. Group plantings of selected species and highly diverse mixed arrangements is preferable to formal layouts. Attention is required to appropriate selection as some species may not be appropriate for locations in close proximity to pedestrian traffic for reasons of pedestrian nuisance (including sharp leaf edges). Plantings recommended should include, where possible, flora local to the site with regionally endemic species to be utilised in the balance.
