Koala survey report – Serenity Close, Noosa Heads
Prepared for Litoria Consulting
1.0 INTRODUCTION
OWAD Environment (OWAD) was contracted by Litoria Consulting to conduct a field assessment
for Koala Phascolarctos cinereus on a site located at Serenity Close, Noosa Heads in Southeast
Queensland. Figure 1 shows the geographic location of the site.
The subject site is approximately 2.4ha in size and consists of two lots described as Lot 10 and
Lot 11 on SP195871. It is located close to Noosa National Park (1km) but separated from the
park by urban development. The majority of the site currently supports native vegetation that is
in more or less disturbed condition. The western portion of the site is currently the most disturbed
with recent earthworks conducted for the installation of several prefabricated buildings now in
place, and areas used for site workers to park vehicles.
The purpose of this survey, performed by Certified Environmental Practitioners1 with the
assistance of one of their purpose-bred professional field detection canines, was to determine
whether there was any evidence of current or recent Koala activity on the site. This report
presents the results of the survey.
