Ecological Assessment Report
3 - 7 Serenity Close, Noosa Heads

   ● A complete inspection of the site should be conducted to identify the location of
individual Cymbidium suave prior to any vegetation clearing.
   ● Where vegetation acting as a host for Cymbidium suave cannot be retained, it is
recommended that the host plant (or part of the trunk), with the Cymbidium suave
attached, be carefully relocated on site to a similar microclimate if possible.

A Translocation Plan can be conditioned as part of a development permit and submitted
as part of a subsequent operational works application to Council.

Detailed design measures for vegetation are also reflected in Section 6.4, which outlines
landscaping requirements.

6.3 FAUNA

This section describes recommended management practices and mitigation strategies
which aim to reduce impacts on native animals present on the site.

Proposed management measures include design measures which minimise long-term
impacts and measures to be taken during clearing and construction to minimise or
mitigate short-term impacts. In terms of construction measures, the following fauna
management measures could be conditioned as part of a development permit:

   ● A Wildlife Spotter Catcher is to inspect all areas to be cleared prior to the
       commencement of works.
   ● Wildlife Spotter Catcher is to supervise and be present on each day that vegetation
       clearing takes place.
   ● The approval holder must not clear any vegetation supporting any fauna until such
time that the individual(s) vacates the vegetation or is relocated by a suitably
       qualified person.
   ● Veterinary care, or assistance from a wildlife refuge, must be sought if any fauna are
found injured within the project site while clearing and/or construction is occurring
       within the site.
   ● To reduce risk of injury to fauna, all vehicles and plant machinery must stay on pre-
determined routes and roads and must adhere to site speed limits at all times.
   ● Where identified, active hollows, nests or other breeding places are not to be
interfered with. Tampering with an animal breeding place is in violation of the Nature
Conservation Act 1999 under section 332 of the Nature Conservation (Wildlife
Management) Regulation 2006. However, this does not apply to a person removing
or otherwise tampering with the breeding place if the removal or tampering is part
of an approved species management program for animals of the same species, or,
the person holds a damage mitigation permit for the animal and the permit
       authorises the removal or tampering.
   ● Relocating/ushering of any non-itinerant fauna (other than the Koala), where
practicable, to nearby patches of vegetation or nearby bushland in accordance with,
inter alia, the Code of Practice – Care of Sick, Injured or Orphaned Protected Animals
in Queensland (Department of Environment and Heritage Protection 2013), and the
