Bushfire Hazard Overlay Code

following Potential Bushfire Intensity areas:
• High Potential Bushfire Intensity
• Medium Potential Bushfire Intensity
• Potential Impact Buffer

The applicant as part of the assessment of the application is required to confirm the level of bushfire
hazard shown on the Noosa Council Bushfire Hazard Overlay through the preparation of a site-
specific bushfire hazard assessment, prepared in accordance with the planning scheme policy for
Natural Hazards and SPP State Interest Guidance Material - natural hazards, risk and resilience –
bushfire.
Councils Senior Environment Officer has reviewed the report and provided the following
comments:
The bushfire hazard assessment has provided a detailed assessment generally in accordance with
the methodologies detailed in the State interest guidance material and supporting QFES Bushfire
Resilient Communities (October 2019) technical reference guide. The Management Plan includes:
• Map locations of the visually assessed vegetation hazard class
• Potential fuel load assessment based on each vegetation hazard class
• Patch filtering (removal / downgrading) of small patches and narrow corridors of hazardous
vegetation unlikely to reach the fire-line intensity as predicted for large contiguous patches of
    vegetation.
• Creation of a site-specific hazard map that takes into account patch filtering process.
