 To Noosa Council

 The Noosa Ferry is a leading tourism attraction and the only commercial vessel that operates to a
 regular schedule, extended hours and every day on the Noosa River.

 We write this letter in support of Pelican Boat Hire’s new jetty and pontoons which we believe
 significantly enhances the marine infrastructure available on the Noosa River.

 We believe that:

     a) the new structure does not pose any navigation hazards in its current form
     b) improves the essential marine infrastructure available in the Noosa River
     c) such infrastructure is essential to larger vessels such as our boats, the Coast Guard and
        visiting cruisers as it is the only diesel fuel supply on the river and is able to provide deep
        water access all year round and during all tides
     d) the complex and expensive upgrade to its fuel lines and bowsers in order to meet current
        Code requirements is a significant improvement and benefit to all river users and the
        environment generally
     e) its design of flat surfaces, ramps and large pontoons significantly improves public safety,
        accessibility and amenity for locals and tourists
     f) the design and installation of PWD accessible jetties and pontoons provides a significant
        benefit to locals and visitors

 Our ferries traverse the Noosa River 364 days a year and we can confirm Pelican Boat Hire does not
 moor vessels on the outside of their pontoon overnight or for extended periods. The pontoon area is
 kept clear for loading and unloading and this large space and its operators provide a safe working
 environment for all river users.

 We provide this letter in support of the Pelican Boat Hire jetty and pontoons and confirm they are
 very positive additions to the Noosa River’s essential marine infrastructure.
