PEKOL TRAFFIC & TRANSPORT

INTRODUCTION

This report has been prepared in response to traffic and transport issues raised in the information request
(IR) from Noosa Council relating to the proposed mixed-use development located at 125 Myall Street,
Cooroy (Noosa Council Reference: MCU14/0056).

The traffic engineering issues raised in the Noosa Council IR and addressed below include:

m= —_access to the proposed development

== development traffic generation and distribution

== impact of the proposed development on the Myall Street / Elm Street intersection

== _ revised SIDRA analysis at the site access, Myall Street / Ferrells Road and the Myall Street / Bruce
Highway Ramps priority intersection

pedestrian and cyclist access and movement

REVISED DEVELOPMENT

The proposed development has been revised and now includes the following components:

service station including shop (190m? GFA) and car wash
fast-food restaurant with drive-thru (270m? GFA)
self-storage units (1,110m’ GFA)

tourist park (23 caravan parks and 10 cabins)

The layout of the revised proposed development is attached in Appendix A and is shown in Figure 1.

Access

It is proposed to provide a single point of vehicular access to the site from Myall Street. No vehicular
access is proposed from Ferrells Road. The Myall Street access would be an all-movements intersection
and includes provision for a left turn auxiliary deceleration lane (AUL) and a channelised right turn
treatment (CHR). The proposed geometric design of the site access intersection is shown in Figure 2 and

attached in Appendix B.

Chapter 13 of the Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) Road Planning and Design Manual
(RPDM) requires a safe intersection sight distance (SISD) of 181m for an 80kph speed environment,

based on the desirable 2.5 second driver reaction time.

The safe intersection stopping site distance requirements for the access intersection are shown in Figure 2.
This figure also indicates the required sign relocations and extent of vegetation clearing necessary to

accommodate the carriageway widening and provide the required sight distance.
