PEKOL TRAFFIC & TRANSPORT

3.0

The sight distance in both directions is in excess of 181m as shown in Figure 2, included in Appendix B.
This is considered more than adequate for the speed environment given that the posted speed changes
from 80km/hr to 60km/hr approximately 20m to the south of the site access so vehicles will be travelling
at speeds which are considerably lower than 80km/hr as they approach the access.

Additionally, in conjunction with the Cooroy to Curra upgrade of the Bruce Highway, the Myall Street /
Bruce Highway ramps intersection is to be converted to a new two-lane roundabout. The deflection
associated with this roundabout is likely to result in lower vehicle speeds on this section of Myall Street.

Therefore the available site distance is considered to be sufficient.

TRAFFIC GENERATION & DISTRIBUTION

Background Traffic Growth

An Annual Volume Report for Myall Street has been obtained from DTMR at a counter site (Number
20049) located 100m south of the Ferrells Road. This data is attached in Appendix C along with the traffic
count data, which was collected on Thursday 14 March 2014 and Saturday 16 March 2014 at the Myall

Street / Ferrells Road and Myall Street/Bruce Highway ramps priority controlled intersections.

Data from the counter site indicates that the two-way volumes on Myall Street have decreased by 2.9%
over the past year (ie 2012 — 2013), decreased by 1.7% per annum over the last five years and increased by
0.6% per annum over the last 10 years. Therefore, we have adopted a nominal background traffic growth
rate of 1% per annum. This rate has been applied to the observed traffic volumes on all approaches except
those that do not cater for through traffic such as Ferrells Road. The application of this rate equates to a

14% increase in local traffic volumes over the next 13 years (2014 to 2027).

Service Station and Fast-Food Restaurant Use

It is considered that the service station and fast-food restaurant uses would generate three different types

of trips as follows:

== _—undiverted pass-by trips from Myall Street
== diverted pass-by trips from the Bruce Highway

== dedicated trips from the Cooroy urban area associated with the fast-food use

Undiverted Pass-By Trips from Myall Street

We have previously undertaken surveys of traffic generation for three BP highway service centres located
on the Pacific Highway at Coomera and Staplyton, and on the Bruce Highway at Caboolture. Each of
these service centres comprises a petrol filling station with associated food / restaurant outlets (including
drive-through facilities).
