This form has been designed for the convenience of the public, and any persons wishing to lodge a submission are not obliged to use this form. 3. Details of Submission I, make the following submission: I object to this development primarily because of both the short and long term health implications it presents to both the vulnerable children and staff of the neighbouring school. Fumes, in particular BENZENE, a known Human Carcinogen as set out by the World Health Organisation (WHO). WHO quote “there is no safe level of exposure that can be recommended”. They also describe it as a “Major public health concern”. I urge you to read the full document. http://www.who.int/ipcs/features/benzene.pdf The safety risks and implications it presents to our young community. I believe a service station located this close to the school would increase the likelihood of pedestrian accidents. The area between the roundabout at Goodchap St and roundabout at Walter High Dr are already notorious for heavy traffic conditions, particualry during school hours. With a development such as this, it would increase traffic two fold especially as you would only be able to ENTER & EXIT the service station on Eumundi Road. I believe this would signifigantly increase car accidents; road rage and create unnecessary local congestion. We simply DON’T need a second service station within hundreds of metres of each other, with the already approved service station on the opposite corner. If you consider the 24 hour self service station located in Venture Drive and the existing one at Noosa Civic Centre, this would make it the FOURTH one within a 1km radius. This is NOT Sydney or Melbourne, there is absolutely NO community need or demand for this. My Husband and I choose to live and raise our children in Noosa because it is safe, clean, unpolluted and one of the most beautiful places in the world. You, our local Councillors have a DUTY OF CARE to our children, community and environment. Just because this proposal may tick all the right boxes on paper, DOESN’T MAKE IT RIGHT. (if necessary, use separate sheet of paper and attach) Page 2 of 2 Notice of Submission under the Sustainable Planning Act 2009 2015/16 Privacy Council will use any personal information provided for the intended purpose only and for remaining in contact with you.
