Fauna Management Plan v2 NCES REF: J000488 215 David Low Way, Peregian Beach Plate 2 – Characteristic vegetation within VU1 2.1.2 Vegetation Unit 2 – Grass / Wetland Drain Vegetation Unit 2 (VU2) occupies a low-lying drainage line which traverses the western boundary and is host to grasses, sedges and cumbungi (Typha orientalis). Water flows in from the drainage line running along Rufous Street to the north and causes temporary inundation and wetland conditions in the north-western corner. VU2 transitions into the Council Reserve and National Park to the west. Native wetland species present include Philydrum lanuginosum (frogsmouth), Persicaria decipiens (slender knotweed), Persicaria attenuata and Cyperus polystachyos (bunchy sedge). Egretta novaehollandiae (white-faced heron), which is a wetland bird species, was observed foraging in the north-western corner of VU2. The area also provides potential habitat for other wetland bird species although the area is small and weedy compared to the adjacent Council Environmental Reserve and National Park. Plate 3 depicts typical conditions within VU2. Plate 3 – Characteristic vegetation within VU2 2019 3
