Fauna Management Plan v2 NCES REF: J000488 215 David Low Way, Peregian Beach Previously Recorded Preferred Habitat Habitat Value within the Site Fauna Species either moist or dry. Within heathlands, dry habitats are used from mid-autumn to late spring, and wet habitats at other times. It is sometimes found in open Banksia woodlands with a heath understorey, in closed fernland around shallow creeks on plains, or in sedges at swamp margins (DoE, 2019c) Phascolarctos cinereus Scattered populations throughout Foraging – There are 52 large (koala) Qld, including moist forests in Melaleuca’s and 2 Lophostemon coastal areas, subhumid woodlands confertus non juvenile koala habitat in southern and central regions, trees within the site. Also known to be limited to altitudes <800 m ASL and may be affected by temperature and leaf moisture in the western and northern parts of its range (Department of the Environment, 2019d). A brief site walkover on Tuesday 5th and Tuesday 12th November, confirmed the habitat onsite and did not incidentally identify the presence of any of the previously recorded fauna species identified in Table 1, including those with the potential to occur listed on the EPBC Act Protected Matters Search Report. 3.3.1 Schedule 11 Part 2 Section 7 of the Planning Regulation 2017. The site is mapped within the koala assessable development area (KADA) with the majority of the site mapped as Low Value Rehabilitation and only the far west of the site mapped as Low Value Bushland Habitat (refer Plate 4). A total of 18 non juvenile koala habitat trees, comprised entirely of M. quinquenervia, are located within the mapped Low Value Rehabilitation area on the site (refer Plate 5). Based on the approved plan of development, the entire site will be subject to bulk earthworks impacts hence all 18 non juvenile koala habitat trees would be impacted. 2019 6
