SPEL HYDROCHANNEL The SPEL Hydrochannel is a SQIDEP approved modular stormwater filtration treatment system that is easily placed into a 300mm wide strip drain, refer to Appendix C for further information and below in Figure 7. Figure 7; SPEL Hydrochannel product features. The SPEL Hydrochannel greatly enhances nutrient removal, suspended solids and heavy metals as depicted in Appendix C literature. This will provide consistent stormwater quality results which are justified by the SQIDEP verification certificate (also in Appendix C). For this specific site it is not possible to divert the GD1’s strip drain stormwater into Pit P4 due to the surface levels at the front of the site and the location/depth of the existing sewer pipe traversing through the north-eastern corner of the site. The landscape garden areas on the entry side of the Car Wash are not large enough to fit in a traditional rain garden and also could not fit an adequately sized graded grassed swale type treatment that would allow sufficient stormwater quality treatment. This is why this SQIDEP approved product has been opted for in the design. The SPEL Hydrochannel allows effective stormwater quality treatment for this entry driveway area that is achieved within the particular site constraints in a convenient, slimline, easy to maintain (all maintenance is conducted at surface level), light weight (ie: great from an OH&S viewpoint) and has no need for a large underground vault or cartridge etc… The SPEL Hydrochannel is easily maintained on this Car Wash site- as the media filter bags can be effortlessly removed and high-pressure washed in a car wash bay and reinstated in the strip drain. This will dramatically increase the lifespan of the media filter bags. - 12 - TMC Building Design Group
