EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report brings forward various proposed amendments to the Noosa Plan - planning scheme
for the Shire of Noosa.
Proposed amendments have been drafted having consideration to submissions received during
preliminary consultation and advice from State Government agencies as well as internal review
of the plan and prior workshops with Councillors.
Changes that materially affect the rights of land owners such as the rezoning of private land,
extension of urban boundaries or amendments to density or subdivision potential have been
avoided in these amendments and are matters more appropriately left to the preparation of the
next planning scheme.
Proposed amendments affect all parts of the planning scheme and this report outlines
amendments on an issue basis rather than in order of appearance through the document. Minor
amendments of an editorial nature are not necessarily detailed in this report. Complete track-
change versions of the proposed amendments have been provided in the Councillors’ room.
RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Senior Strategic Planner to the Planning & Organisation
Committee Meeting dated 19 August 2014 and:
A. Resolve to amend the planning scheme for the Shire of Noosa in accordance with the
proposed amendments as outlined in that report; and
B. Request the Chief Executive Officer to write to the Minister for State Development,
Infrastructure and Planning requesting a State Interest Review of the proposed
amendments and the Minister’s approval for Council to commence public consultation on
the proposed amendments.
