SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 8 AUGUST 2017

The lower than predicted expenditure was attributed to a number of variables including:
 External contractor fees saved due to many landfill projects being managed and conducted
      internally.
 Waste collection costs were lower than budgeted.
 Consultancy fees saved due to environmental monitoring being conducted internally and
      only as required.

Capital Works

Officers of the Waste Section completed five capital works projects over the 2017FY at a total
value of $494,372. Works included:

 Installation of a gravity sewerage line to the Contractors Depot
The gravity line was required to remove the need to pump sewage in a rising main from the
depot buildings and wash bay to the site’s major pump station.

 Upgrades to Contractor’s Depot
The upgrade improved safety and provided additional parking for the extra fleet of
collection vehicles required for the new contract.

 Upgrade to entrance signage
The entrance signage at the Eumundi Road Resource Recovery Facility was replaced for
     the first time since 2002.

 Upgrades to roads at the entry to Eumundi Road Resource Recovery Facility
The site entrance was upgraded from Eumundi Road around to the weighbridge. Works
also included a new slip lane at the Tip Shop (Reusable Goods Recycling and Sale Facility)
for residents to drop off reusable goods prior to the weighbridge. This is an initiative that
     encourages recycling and benefits customers.

 Cooroy Waste Transfer Station hardstand and internal road
This area received much needed repairs and upgrade.
