PLANNING & ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 9 APRIL 2019
3. Climate change considerations
Council now has new climate change mapping which identifies lands that are preferred
biodiversity retreat areas. These are areas where ecosystems can adapt under climate change
sea level rise scenarios. 3RP186809 is included as a biodiversity retreat area under these maps
(see Map 6 areas coloured in blue to the west of Boreen Point)

4. Threats
Under the Noosa Plan 3RP186809 is zoned as Rural and is covered by the Biodiversity Overlay.
There are exemptions for clearing of vegetation under this overlay including clearing for:
A house site (up to 2000 metres square)
Fire trails
Timber for fencing and firewood
Emergency services
Although there is an old house site to the west on the land parcel (see Map 7) it is quite possible
that a new landholder may prefer to build a house next to Louis Bazzo Drive because of its close
proximity to the Boreen Point township and ease of power connection. This would require
clearing of remnant vegetation and raising the ground levels with fill for a house site.
