Re: Application No: MCU13/0087
I am very against the proposal by Coles to redevelop a marvellous
sporting facility.
The Noosa Heads Bowling Club has been providing an excellent
facility for thousands of
people, both young and old, to exercise for 43 years. Many schools take advantage of the
free bowls coaching for their students. All members of the community can learn to bowl at
absolutely no cost, and anyone can roll up for an affordable cost of $2.
People with disability problems, or people who can no longer participate in a competitive
sport, can still roll up on a Saturday among friends and enjoy a healthy outdoor activity. The
local paper featured these wonderful players in an article this
year. Those recovering from
surgery or physical handicaps have a place to go which helps in the healing process. Surely
the well being of these players should be more important than a large organisation’s desire to
expand their empire. The Club is also home to a Mahjong Club, a petanque club and a fishing
club. It has always provided a community meeting place for
groups and organisations,
usually at no cost.
Noosa Junction is like a country town. People feel safe on the streets, there is minimal traffic
and congestion, and a lovely environment is shared by all.
This will not be the case if this site is changed to commercial uses. The traffic alone is a
cause for concern.
Please do not let our recreational area be taken from us.
I
Yours faithfully,
~
