2. FOR THE LOVE OF NOOSA
2.1 A Plan for Noosa
Tourism has helped shape the Noosa we know and love – supporting local businesses and
creating vibrant experiences for locals and visitors alike.
But as visitation grows and pressures increase, our community needs a clear plan and shared
approach to protect and manage what matters most: our lifestyle, our environment, our
economy, and our sense of place.
Like many iconic destinations around the world, we are facing challenges that increasingly
threaten the very qualities that make Noosa special. Overwhelmingly, our community have told
us they want a renewed focus – one that builds on our environmental strengths and safeguards
what we value, while ensuring that tourism is a force for good in our future.
This plan reflects our community’s vision.
It’s been shaped through extensive community engagement and is tailor-made for Noosa. With
overwhelming support (75% of all respondents7) and across all age groups and geographical
locations we heard a clear message: build on our strong environmental foundations, put our
community at the heart and shift towards a regenerative tourism model – one that leaves Noosa
better than it was found.
