The J’s visitation data is very similar to 2018/19’s result. It is pleasing to note that despite stable
patronage numbers, the centre still achieved a 10% uplift in revenue. This is indicative of the centre
attracting higher quality performances which are yielding a greater return per attendee.

Recent achievements

In addition to growing revenue and controlling expenditure, The J has also been able to achieve
the following over the past 6 months:
 Replacement of the venue’s ageing PA system and mixing console with a new, much-
      improved system.
 Continued efforts to minimise emissions and use of plastics across the facility.
 Strengthening of relationships with key partners, including the University of the Sunshine
      Coast’s (USC) CIDSEL program.
 Operation as a primary evacuation centre during the Peregian, Cooroibah and North Shore
      fires.

Upcoming priorities

The following priorities will be key focuses for management throughout the second half of 2019/20:
 Layout changes to the upstairs office area to allow for a more functional workspace.
 Completion of deck, storage area and loading dock building works.
 Recruitment of a new staff member to drive the venue’s marketing efforts to new levels.
 Development of a new business plan.
 Review and enhancement of systems including ticket sales, bookings and point of sale
      (POS).
 Implementing improvement actions flagged during a review of recent evacuation centre
      operations.
