1.        Intro

1.1       Background
          The Noosa Council (Council) iss a newly re-established Counciil following its de-
          amalgamation from th he Sunshine Coast Regioonal Council on 1 Januarry 2014. Forr the first
          time in ovver five yea
                               ars, the Noo
                                          osa Shire Loocal Governmment Area (the Shire) is again
                                          Council with local focus on planning
          governed exclusively by a local C                                  g social and physical
          infrastructure, econom
                               mic developmment, comm munity capacity buildingg, housing and
                                                                                           a    land
          use planning.
          To inform a range of plans,
                                 p        Counccil have enga
                                                           aged AEC Group Pty Ltd  d (AEC) to undertake
          a baseline assessmentt of various socio-econo   omic indicato
                                                                      ors. These inndicators will provide
          a consistennt set of datta for variou
                                              us departments within Council, allow wing a comparison of
          each of thhe nine loca  alities withinn the Shire and bench hmarking the   e Shire aga ainst the
          broader So outh East Queensland
                                 Q             ((SEQ) Regioon and the State. Ultimmately, interp pretation
          and analys sis of key findings will iinform Coun ncil on key trends,
                                                                       t       criticcal issues as
                                                                                                 s well as
          opportunitties for future growth.

          residents (2013).
