    Seconded: Cr Jurisevic

ACCOMMODATION AT 3 ROBERT STREET, NOOSAVILLE
The following material was presented to the meeting in relation to this item:
 Cr Stockwell – Image - refer to Attachment 3

    Motion
    Moved: Cr Wegener
    Seconded: Cr Finzel
That Council note the report by the Coordinator Planning to the Planning & Environment
Committee Meeting dated 9 February 2021 regarding Application No. MCU20/0115 for a
Development Permit for Material Change of Use - Short-term accommodation situated at 3
Robert St, Noosaville and refuse the application for the following reasons:
    1. The proposed development is contrary to Overall Outcomes 2(a), (h) & (j) and
Performance Outcome PO6(d) of the Medium Density Residential Zone Code as
          (a) a significant number of properties in the area are already being used for visitor
accommodation and the proposal will result in the loss of a dwelling unit for use by
                 permanent residents.
          (b) the proposal has the potential to adversely impact on the residential amenity of the
                 area.

    2. The proposed development is contrary to Overall Outcomes 2(e) & (f) of the Visitor
Accommodation Code as the density of existing visitor accommodation is not compatible
with the intent of the zone and the preferred character for the area and additional visitor
accommodation will detract from the amenity enjoyed by residents.
    3. The proposed development is contrary to Strategic Outcome 3.3.3(n) for the area which
seeks that neighbourhoods of permanent housing are protected from short term visitor

      Attention: Noosa Shire Council,
Those of us who call Crank Street home have become increasingly concerned by the speed
of the cars that travel our street, and by the often dangerous driving that many of us
      observe all too often.

Please refer to the attached collection of petitions, as evidence did the shared concern for
the safety of residents and motorists alike. As a collective, we are worried that in the
absence of traffic calming measure, we may find ourselves in a ‘too little too late’
scenario, which would be genuinely horrific. Numerous young families and children use
our street to get to school and day care - as you would be aware, there is no footpath down
the length of the street, nor are there pedestrian crossings or safety islands at the top of
Crank St (Werin St intersection) or connecting the green spaces in the low-lying part of
Crank St close to the school.

There is consensus among us that chicanes would be preferable to speed bumps, as the
noise pollution that the latter generate is significant (and avoidable if chicanes can be
utilised). There is some anxiety that the council will ignore our concerns - please, find a
way to advise us of how you plan to address these long-standing and growing concerns.
Please get in contact with me should you wish to speak further about the concerns I have
      outlined.

Thank you in advance for your timely response, and for participating in this democratic
      process.
      Sincerely,

ORDINARY MEETING MINUTES 18 FEBRUARY 2021

                 Dear neighbour,
Like you, we call Crank Street home and are increasingly frustrated and concerned by the
number of motorists speeding up and down the length of our street. We'd like to see Noosa
Council implement some traffic calming measures to minimise the risk of harm to motorists,
pedestrians, cyclists, and pets, and hope that this will also go some way to reducing the
noise pollution that the speeding generates. If this is something that you are in support of,
please complete the below form and pop it into our letterbox to be collated and submitted to
Noosa Council. Thank you for your support in keeping our street safe for locals.
                 Warmest,

P.s. | will submit this mid-November, so if you are wanting to support this request to council,
please pop your signed copy in our letterbox by then. PO

Petition for traffic calming in Crank Street, Tewantin QLD
Overview of concern: In recent months, there has been a steady and notable increase in the
misuse of Crank Street as a short cut between Butler Street and Werin Street, and Werin
Street and Moorindil Street. Of particular concem is the speed at which many of these
“motoristsvare travellingand the carelessness with) which thésé motorists, many of them
provisionally licensed, are operating their vehicle. There are a number of young families
residing in our street, not to mention the many residents who cycle, walk their pets, and
generally spend time in their front yards, who are now managing the risk associated with
speeding motorists. In addition, the dangerous cutting of corners at the four-way
intersections that book-end the aforementioned sections of Crank Street, and the late-night
hooning are also of concern. We would like to see Noosa Council take appropnate and
timely measures to minimise the risk of harm (both to motorists and residents) that is
steadily growing. A proactive approach to this issue is both important and warranted.
                (0 205 st0ct
Tewantin share the concerns outlined above and support the petition for traffic calming
measures. lemented in our street to ensure the safety of residents and motorists.
