ORDINARY MEETING MINUTES 18 FEBRUARY 2021
Dear neighbour,
Like you, we call Crank Street home and are increasingly frustrated and concerned by the
number of motorists speeding up and down the length of our street. We'd like to see Noosa
Council implement some traffic calming measures to minimise the risk of harm to motorists,
pedestrians, cyclists, and pets, and hope that this will also go some way to reducing the
noise pollution that the speeding generates. If this is something that you are in support of,
please complete the below form and pop it into our letterbox to be collated and submitted to
Noosa Council. Thank you for your support in keeping our street safe for locals.
Warmest,
P.s. | will submit this mid-November, so if you are wanting to support this request to council,
please pop your signed copy in our letterbox by then. PO
Petition for traffic calming in Crank Street, Tewantin QLD
Overview of concern: In recent months, there has been a steady and notable increase in the
misuse of Crank Street as a short cut between Butler Street and Werin Street, and Werin
Street and Moorindil Street. Of particular concem is the speed at which many of these
“motoristsvare travellingand the carelessness with) which thésé motorists, many of them
provisionally licensed, are operating their vehicle. There are a number of young families
residing in our street, not to mention the many residents who cycle, walk their pets, and
generally spend time in their front yards, who are now managing the risk associated with
speeding motorists. In addition, the dangerous cutting of corners at the four-way
intersections that book-end the aforementioned sections of Crank Street, and the late-night
hooning are also of concern. We would like to see Noosa Council take appropnate and
timely measures to minimise the risk of harm (both to motorists and residents) that is
steadily growing. A proactive approach to this issue is both important and warranted.
