DCP3 undertaken through the inferred fill embankment to the western side boundary indicates that the
materials are variable in density, from very loose to medium dense.

Table 1 below summarises the subsurface profile encountered at each test location (noted in a west to east
direction, Seaview Terrace to high dune toe).

Notes: 1. Depths noted in m BGL at time of investigation (15 September & 8 October 2021)
       2. NE denotes not encountered
       3. TD denotes borehole terminated at target depth

4.5 Groundwater
No signs of groundwater seepage (‘springs’) were observed at the ground surface during our walk-over.
Groundwater seepage was encountered in borehole BH2 (located at the toe of the high dune) at about 1.9 m
BGL, which is inferred to represent a ‘perched’, unconfined groundwater table that builds up and diminishes
in the sands above the denser materials below, in response to prevailing weather conditions. Groundwater
was not encountered to 6 m BGL in borehole BH1, with groundwater not observed due to the introduction of
drilling fluid below 2.5 m BGL in borehole BH3.
No groundwater was present in the standpipe installed in borehole BH3 to 6 m BGL following completion of
drilling on 8 October 2021.

Groundwater conditions are expected to be reflective of prevailing weather conditions and seepage may
develop, particularly following periods of prolonged or heavy rainfall.

4.6 Geotechnical Laboratory Test Results
PSD analyses on two sand samples from boreholes BH1 and BH2 indicate that the soils generally comprise
fine and fine to medium grained sands with <1% silt fines (i.e. relatively ‘clean’). Full test results (laboratory
certificates) are presented in Appendix B.
