Provide passive and nature based recreation and educational opportunities;
T
Provide ecological and open space linkages;
F
Maintain and improves landscape character, scenic amenity and natural heritage; and
Support the economy thorough the tourism industry and contributes to the region’s natural competitive advantage and lifestyle.
A
Ensure coastal foreshores and dune systems are maintained in their natural state to facilitate natural coastal processes and minimise coastal erosion impacts.
R
Protect and improve the quality of ground and surface water.
Protect the biodiversity and environmental services values of water catchment areas and drinking water resources through a planning scheme overlay.
D
Outcome: Noosa Shire includes a well-connected network of protected areas and core habitat.
Continue to maintain and enhance a network of open space, natural habitat, protected areas, wetlands and watercourses.
Build connectivity and adaptive capacity of biodiversity values and investigate opportunities for ecological communities to adapt and retreat over time as climate
changes.
Protect and enhance ecologically important areas, including regional ecosystems, and riparian areas from development and land use impacts.
Ensure Koala habitat, connectivity and safety is maintained and improved.
Ensure development does not adversely impact on the terrestrial and aquatic biodiversity values and the water quality within the Noosa River system and that part of
Noosa Shire within the Mary River catchment.
Provide for the replacement planting and rehabilitation of degraded ecosystems and habitat.
