MWA Environmental 6.0 CONCLUSION MWA Environmental has been engaged by W Donald Milligan Pty Ltd to prepare a Noise and Air Quality Impact Assessment for a proposed development of eight (8) poultry growing sheds at Ridgewood. The assessment has addressed the following issues: • Noise Impact Assessment • Odour Impact Assessment • Dust Impact Assessment Ambient noise monitoring was conducted to characterise the existing background noise levels at the locality and to determine the appropriate noise amenity criteria for the assessment. A detailed computer noise model was setup to represent noise emissions from the proposed poultry farm. The results of the modelling demonstrate that the relevant Environmental Protection (Noise) Policy 2008 noise amenity criteria will be satisfied at all surrounding residences. Detailed odour modelling indicates that proposed eight shed poultry farm can operate in compliance with the relevant odour amenity guideline subject to the implementation of modern best practice standards for shed construction, ventilation and operational management. Detailed dust dispersion modelling indicates that particulate emissions from the proposed poultry sheds will not exceed the relevant Environmental Protection (Air) Policy 2008 air quality objectives at surrounding sensitive land uses. The relatively low traffic generation forecast for the development would not be expected to cause unreasonable dust amenity impacts at residences in proximity to Top Forestry Road. Dust emission potential from Top Forestry Road may be minimised through appropriate maintenance of the road surface and reduction of heavy vehicle speed. As such, it is recommended that the proposed development be approved with reasonable and relevant conditions in relation to noise, odour and dust emissions and impacts. In order to minimise the potential impact of noise, odour and dust emissions from the proposed poultry farm, it is recommended that the site be operated in accordance with an effective Environmental Management Plan outlining procedures for the implementation of best-practice emissions management.
