SITE SILT & SEDIMENT MANAGEMENT — CONSTRUCTION PHASES
PHASE METHODOLOGY
DEMOLITION — Provide silt fencing around existing SW pit in N.E. Cnr of site
- Construct bunding along rear (eastern) boundaries as indicated on plan.
Cover bunds in builders plastic to prevent scour/silt runoff
— Maintain the existing turfed area shown on the plan and provide
additional silt fence upslope from the area.
— Install remaining silt fences as indicated on the plan.
— Rumble grates and no fines rock hardstand to be provided for all plant
and equipment exiting the site.
— Cover all stockpiled soil with builder plastic
— Maintain existing swale adhjacent northern boundary and install coir log
dams along its length
BIO/DETENTION/SILT | — Maintain all site measures implemented during the DEMOLITION phase.
— Fix and or improve any measures damaged or compromised during the
DEMOLITION phase or past storm event.
— Provide a clearly identified vehicle path through the site down to the
construction work-face. Provide crushed rock/road base as a temporary
pavement along these paths.
— Establish a clearly identified parking area within the site for workers and
visitors. This area should have crushed rock/road base surfacing and the
downslope areas surrounded by silt fencing.

MAINTENANCE OF SILT PROTECTION
SITE FOREMAN TO MAINTAIN ALL SILT AND SEDIMENT
PROTECTION MEASURES THROUGHOUT THE DURATION OF
PROJECT. ANY BREACHING OF THE PROTECTION MEASURES
MUST BE REMEDIATED IMMEDIATELY AND REPORTED TO THE
ENGINEER FOR CORRECTION MEASURES. SILT RUNOFF
PROTECTION IS TO BE MAINTAINED UNTIL SUCH POINT THAT
LANDSCAPING IS COMPLETED AND NOT SUSCEPTABLE TO
STORMWATER SCOUR.
DUST MOBILISATION FROM WIND ACTION
SITE CONTROL TO INCLUDE PROTECTION AGAINST THE
CARRIAGE OF SOIL SEDIMENT FROM WIND ACTIONS. SITE
FOREMAN TO COVER ALL STOCKPILES WITH HESION OR
SIMILIAR, PROVIDE SILT FENCING AROUND BASE OF STOCKPILES
SITE DRAINAGE — CONSTRUCTION
CONSTRUCTED STORM WATER PITS WITHIN THE SITE
ARE TO BE COVERED UNTIL THE SITE IS COMPLETED
OR TO BE FITTED WITH SILT PROTECTION MEASURES
TO THE APPROVAL OF THE ENGINEER
BULK EARTHWORKS
— Maintain all site measures implemented during the previous construction
phase.
— Fix and or improve any measures damaged or compromised during the
previous phase or past storm event.
— Provide all detailed items within the constructed Bio/Detention basin
which will act as the a Silt Basin during the earthworks and subsequent
construction phases.
— Ensure all site surface runoff is channeled through the Silt Basin. No
runoff from the site must be allowed to drain into neighbouring properties.
— Maintain bunding where required
— The Silt Basin will require continual management/maintenance during the
remaining construction works. Refer Silt Basin detail.
— Approved flocculating agent should be used for any silt laden volumes
of detained runoff within the Silt Basin.
— Stripped Areas awaiting earthworks should be tilled or bucket raked in a
direction parallel to the surface contours to slow/impede surface runoff
and promote infiltration
— Completed earthworks areas should be treated with an approved soil
binder material.
BUILDING WORKS
— Maintain all site measures implemented during the previous construction
phase.
— Fix and or improve any measures damaged or compromised during the
previous phase or past storm event.
— The Silt Basin will require continual management/maintenance during the
remaining construction works. Refer Silt Basin detail.
— All constructed SW pits within the site must be covered until connected
to drains which discharge in the Silt Basin. At which point the pits should
still be covered with a Geofabric blanket.
— All installed gutters should be fitted with temporary down pipes which
drain directly into constructed SW pits.
BIO-RETENTION BED
— The silt capture measures shall be removed from the Silt Basin for
preparation of Bio—retention basin.
— The Bio-retention basin shall be constructed in accordance with the
details contained within these drawings.
These measures are provided with reference to IEAUST Soil and Sediment Erosion Engineering
Guidelines for Queensland Construction Sites and IEAC recomendations
