Subject: RE: Noosa Springs Boutique Hotel - decision-making period From: Shane Adamson Date: 2024-10-17T23:48:49+00:00 To: Patrick Murphy, Richard MacGillivray CAUTION: This email originated outside of Council. Do not open links or attachments if the email is unexpected or unusual. Dear Patrick, As discussed, the applicant is proposing to make changes to the development proposal in order to address the concerns raised by councillors. The changes are considered to be a “minor change” under the Planning Act 2016 and will be finalised as soon as possible. It is also intended to provide updated advice from a number of experts with respect to ecology, odour, noise, visual amenity and bushfire. Consequently, the applicant is seeking agreement to extend the decision period (currently 31 October 2024) to the end of December 2024 under the Development Assessment Rules. Please confirm that Council will agree to extend the decision period as requested. Please inform the Council that we have: 1. Investigated further changes to the hotel in response to the issues listed in the proposed reasons for refusal. While some matters cannot be addressed through changes, other modifications are being considered and we summarized our preliminary thoughts in the Schedule recently provided to the Council. 2. Made additional efforts to engage with the community by: holding two well-attended town-hall style public forums at the Noosa Springs clubhouse; and meeting with individuals who have made deputations to Councillors. 3. Met with Unitywater representatives to address concerns related to reverse amenity issues concerning the Noosa Wastewater Treatment Plant. We require more time to explore certain initiatives arising from the above actions and would be grateful if you would prepare a draft request to Council to extend the decision-making period. Let me know if you have any queries.
