About Council
The Noosa Shire Council was created in 1910 under the The current Noosa Council was elected in 2016, and comprises
Queensland Local Authorities Act of 1902. 7 elected Councillors, including the Mayor.
In 2008, the Shire was amalgamated with Maroochy Shire and The next council elections will be held in March 2020.
Caloundra City Councils to form the Sunshine Coast Regional
Council.
Noosa Council was re-established as a local government on
1 January 2014 after the Noosa community campaigned for a
number of years to restore its own local government.
