Cash and Cash Equivalents
Cash and cash equivalents includes cash on hand, all cash and cheques receipted but not banked at the year
end, deposits held at call with financial institutions, other short-term, highly liquid investments with original
maturities of three months or less that are readily convertible to known amounts of cash which are subject to an
insignificant risk of changes in value, and bank overdrafts.

Restricted Cash and Cash Equivalents
Council's Cash and Cash Equivalents are subject to a number of Internal and External Restrictions that limit
amounts available for discretionary of future use.
These include:
Externally imposed expenditure restrictions at the reporting date relate to the
following cash assets:

Cash and deposits at call are held in the Commonwealth Bank in a normal business cheque account.
On call accounts are also held with QTC. Deposits at call earned variable interest over varying terms at interest
rates of between 1.20% and 3.20%.
Investments
Term deposits with a maturity date great than three months post reporting date are treated as investments, with
deposits of less than three months being reported as cash equivalents.
