GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 13 FEBRUARY 2023

How would you rate the importance of the criteria for selecting a placemaking pilot location?
The response to this question is shown in Figure 1 below.

Figure 1: Rating of Importance of Criteria for Pilot Selection.

Source: Noosa Council Report: Pilot Placemaking Priority Assessment Workshop Report November 2022.

The role of community was considered as the most important criteria, both in terms of:
 community capacity, and
 a community that has leadership and resourcing.
Liveability Score and local opportunities was rated next in importance with alignment with Council’s
current and future strategic priorities rated slightly less prominent.

Workshop participants were then asked:
How would you rate each location based on the level of need for placemaking and Council's
strategic priorities?

Pomona, Tewantin and Kin Kin where the highest ranking. For localities that were more highly
rated common features about these during Part 1 of the workshop discussions included:
 it is an area that doesn’t already have the most significant investment
 there is potential for community spaces and infrastructure to be improved
 it is made up of a local community (more residential and less transient)
 there is some community leadership present to support placemaking (but there may be a
need for this to be strengthened).
