EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Not applicable.
RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Senior Business Support Officer, Planning and Infrastructure,
to the General Committee Meeting dated 28 April 2014 and adopt the Naming of Roads, Parks,
Community Infrastructure and Street Numbering Policy (Attachment 1 to the report by the Senior
Business Support Officer dated 28 April 2014).
REPORT
Council has a responsibility under the Local Government Act (2009) for the naming and
numbering of public and private roads within council boundaries.
The draft Council policy Naming of Roads, Parks, Community Infrastructure and Street
Numbering (Attachment 1) defines the principles to apply to requests for new names, usually
from developers, requests for renaming, street numbering and the assessment and approval
process.
The principles relate to the suitability of the name and relevance to the locality.
It is proposed that the community has the opportunity to request renaming of existing roads,
parks and community infrastructure however such requests may only be granted under
extraordinary circumstances.
