Re: Application MCU 14/0028
I am writing in relation to the above application to express my concerns regarding the
proposed material change of use of land at 317 Lawnville Road, Black Mountain.
Our home is located directly on the border of the Henbury property and from the
information we have been provided with so far it is my understanding that placement
of the chicken caravans will potentially be only 150 metres from our home. As a
result of this I have grave concerns for the following reasons:-
The smell that will be created due to the volume of chickens in such close
proximity to our boundary.
Increased noise levels in particular around sunrise.
Increased number of wild dogs, vermin and snakes that will be attracted to the
area due to the volume of chickens. I understand that steps will be taken to
protect the chickens from these risks but my concern is for our pets and the
pets in the neighbourhood who will not have such protection from the
increased likelihood of attack.
Visual impact of caravans from our property.
Of greatest concern is the potential reduction in the value of the property in the
area and the effect that chicken farming on such a large scale will have on
potential buyers in the area.
When we purchased this property we did so for the semi-rural lifestyle, the peace and
tranquillity and beauty of the area. If the proposed development goes ahead it is my
view that the peace and enjoyment of our land, in addition to what was attractive to
the area, will be compromised.
I would appreciate it if serious consideration would be given to the concerns I have
raised.
