Appendix 4 - Noise impact assessment
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This acoustic report has been prepared to support a Development Application for the proposed redevelopment
of the Noosaville Service Station at the Corner of Mary Street and Weyba Road, Noosaville, Qld 4566. The
development site falls within an existing business zone and is surrounded by residences and commercial
premises.
The proposed use involves the operation of a redeveloped BP service station. The development has the
potential to generate noise emissions at neighbouring dwellings due to car parking and mechanical plant.
Mechanical plant will be located on the ground and the existing hours of operation (5:00am to 10:00pm) will
be maintained. The noise emissions from the site will be reduced due to the relocation and selection of new
ground mounted mechanical plant and boundary noise barriers.
The Acoustic Quality Objectives and the Background Creep requirements of the Environmental Protection
(Noise) Policy 2008 (EPP Noise) and Sleep Disturbance noise criteria described by the World Health
Organisation (WHO) have been used as the assessment criteria for the development.
Noise emissions from the proposed redevelopment have been forecast in this acoustic assessment. Baseline
noise measurements have also been performed near the subject site to help determine background noise levels
in the area and nominate background creep criteria.
Conclusions
• Noise emissions from the operation of the proposed BP redevelopment were forecast to comply with
the noise criteria provided the noise control recommendations in this report are installed.
Recommendations
• Acoustic noise controls as outlined in this report should be constructed as described in Section 6 of
this report.
