I (We) make the following submission: As a business owner and operator in Noosa Junction for over 20 years I object to the re-zoning and over development of the site. Commercial space is in over supply at the moment and small local operators who keep profits in the local economy are being over run by the Duopoly of Coles and Woolworths. Already they control the majority of food, hardware, liquor and fuel sales in many communities and in the long term it's the local economy and people who miss out. We should not allow more money to leave our town. There are few independent food, fuel and liquor outlets left and once gone the major suppliers will be able to set prices as they see fit. The loss of recreation space is also a real concern. Areas such as this should be protected and enhanced as the population grows they become more important. Traffic and parking are poorly provided for ESP during peak times and this development will add to the problem. The short term injection of capital during construction will not make up for the long term economic loss to the area. Lastly I feel this application should be dealt with by the Nnosa Council as it directly effects the Noosa plan. It is only a matter of weeks until the new council is formed and the people of Noosa have voted to have their say on what effects their community. 11.
