RUFOUS STREET PLAN
AND ITS PROBLEMS
BETIV VAWSER39 CORMORANTCRES.PEREGIANBEACH4573
I have several problems with the design of this proposed plan.
la The Buildings
"Xith the great desire of the residents of Peregian Beach a Peregian Beach
Cbrl, munity House was built on the corner of Woodland Drive David Lo Way.
Peregian Beach had nowhere at all to hold meetings,or have any kind of
community happenings ,run courses and have childrens events, etc. The House
provides available street toilet near the bus stops, provides a place to rest and
meet friends, get local information, be available voting and special Peregian Beach
meetings. It had to be in a noticeable position and be easily accessible for people
walking, off the bus for children from schools,. for visitors and people new to the
area.
The position chosen for he Community House is clear to be seen, on the
corner of David Lo Way and Woodland Drive. By choosing this site all our
conditions were met. It also provides the perfect place for the weekly Noosa
Library Bus to park in Woodland Drive along the street fence of Community
House. This gives the librarians the use of Community House toilets and electric
connections for their five hour time there
Community House has nothing to do with Rufous Street. There is no entry
from Roufus St. to Community House. There is a brick building and between
Community House and Rufous St.
THEREIS NO REASONTO MOVE PEREGIANBEACHCOMMUNITY HOUSEAT ALL!!!
The position suggested in this new development for Community House is
out of the way, hard to find and does not fulfil any of these requirements so well
filled by its now long standing position.
It would be a good idea to improve our tiny House including providing a
small cafe.

lb The Buildings. I find it very depressing that the council is ignoring the needs of the residents of Peregian Beach and plan to build an overwhelmingly huge dominating building for a Digital Hub building. This has nothing what so ever to do with our village or Peregian Beach as a whols. The article in the Noosa News makes it clear that this building is seen to be more important than our Community House and is given pride of place. How dare they erect a massive two storey building, occupying a large part of Peregian Beaches's rare and tiny parkland. As well how can they put a hideous design on an outside wall in out tiny park. This painted wall is so grotesque and not at all inline with the gentle charm of Peregian Beach Don't do it. Then they remove our Peregian Beach Community House, now to be fronted with useless steps in a hard to find position well away from it's present excellent position. Why can't the Noosa Council find another bit of spare land rather taking our precious space. What about the unused land at Noosa Junction. 2. Traffic Problems and inconvenience to residents and the whole of Peregian Beach village. The number of people working in this massive building will create a real problem of traffic congestion. The plan is to provide extra car parking onto the present small car park. This will increase car numbers from la's of cars to lOa's of cars, and note, this parking space will surely be occupied completely by the people in this massive building with no room for the tenants and customers of the present building on David Lo Way and the Community Centre. At the present time the home residents of Woodland Drive, Gannet St, Tern St and the very long Cormorant Crescent comprising a large number houses whose only exit onto David Lo Way to from the Woodland drive exit . . As well as cars from these homes there is a constant flow of traffic to and from Rufous St into Woodland Drive with the same one and only exit onto David Lo Way These are for the Kindergarten, the Tennis Club, the Peregian Community Garden and the parking area for people within walking distance to the village.,

. We all these car owners wait sometimes over a quarter of an hour to get onto David Lo Way if wanting to travel south even just to get to the village. Travelling north is a smaller problem There is no roundabout at the Woodland drive near junction. Instead we have a but a messy system. Cars travelling from the north wanting to enter Woodland have a centre of the road designated turning place where they have to wait until the traffic clears on the north bound lane. This means that cars waiting to leave Woodland Drive have to wait until these cars have entered Woodland Drive. Usually a long wait. Cars who are exiting from the present building, homes or the present car park into David Lo Way must travel north. If they want to travel south they must drive up to the Woodland Drive exit and wait in the middle of the road for a break in the south bound traffic before they can make the U turn to the south bound road. In the mean time the cars exiting Woodland Drive must wait till the turners turn before they have a chance to exit for the south bound road. Can you imagine the chaos and impossible traffic conditions arising from cars emerging from this huge new carpark which must exit onto David Lo Way on the north bound Can you imagine the hugely increased problems for everyone using Woodland Drive exit, the only exit for the large housing estate and the Rufous t St. traffic, into the main road because the Council is building a huge unwanted building on our parkland and providing it with a massive car park. ' THIS MAJORTRAFFICPROBLAEMMUST BERESOLVEDANDTHISCOUNCILPLAN MUST BECHANGED. People here I speak with are worried, angry, horrified No one is happy they feel as if our home area is about to be absolutely ruined, with a hydrous new building, cars and no possible for peace, quiet walks and getting out of our Woodland Drive exit. I'm speaking for them as well as myself Betty Vawser
