Dear Sir
RE: GLOBAL STABILITY ASSESSMENT
EXISTING CUT AND FILL BATTER SLOPES
36 TUNBA CT, COOROY MOUNTAIN
1.0 INTRODUCTION
This report presents the results of a global stability assessment of the existing cut and fill batter slopes
at 36 Tunba Court, Cooroy Mountain (herein referred to as the ‘Site’). The work was requested and
commissioned by Mr Geoff Hussin (the ‘Client’).
This is Revision 1 of the report originally sent on and dated the 23rd November, 2021, and includes
additional global stability modelling plots associated with the existing cut batter, and a proposed bench
excavated into the existing cut batter.
From the provided information, cut and fill batters have been constructed in preparation for the
placement of a new shed.
The following details are provided regarding the existing cut and fill batter slopes at the Site:
Cut batter up to approximately 5.5m in height, cut at approximately 380 to 400 and
predominantly exposing extremely weathered rock
The ground surface behind and above the crest of the cut batter slopes downwards
towards the crest at an angle of approximately 200
Fill batter up to approximately 4.5m in height, graded at an angle of approximately 350
The ground surface in front of and below the toe of the fill batter slopes downwards and
away from the toe of the batter at an angle of approximately 260
The fill at the site has been placed under Level 1 supervision by a senior technician from Morrison
Geotechnic’s Maroochydore office, under Morrison Geotechnic (MG) Job Number ML21/188, dated 28th
October, 2021 (the ‘MG Level 1 Report’). It is recommended that the MG Level 1 Report is read in
conjunction with this report.
Based on the provided information, the cut and fill batters are typically steeper and higher than what
would normally be considered as geotechnically stable over the long term and a global stability
assessment is required.
