3.0 Climate Change Adaptation
Adaptation to the changing climate is being considered to manage the project’s operational risk, details of which will be assessed following
Development Approval. Typical design amendments to manage this risk include:
▪ Increased air condition system design temperature to increase capacity.
▪ Increased rainwater capture sizes to provide increase capacity for periods of drought, noting tank sizing to cover through entire
periods of drought is impractical.
▪ Increased capacity of roof gutter, downpipes and civil infrastructure to manage increases in rainfall intensities.
▪ Review and design of surface areas to manage rainwater overflow in peak rainfall events.
▪ Review of roof gutters and downpipes for hail and debris build-up and overflow analysis.
▪ Consider increased storm events with high wind gusts to inform design, outdoor furnishings and operational management.
▪ Locate critical building equipment like switchboards, emergency systems, pumps and critical HVAC away from openings (including
weatherproof louvres) and away from potential flooding risk.
▪ Review basement car park areas for flood risks.
▪ Fire and ember management plans and consideration of Bushfire Attack Level in the future.
