Sustainability Strategy

1.0 Introduction
1.1 Sustainability
A tailored sustainability strategy for the project has been developed taking into consideration climate change mitigation, climate change
adaptation, healthy and comfortable spaces and ecology with details of how these items will be incorporated into the design and operation.
A bespoke sustainability strategy will be further developed following approval of the project and will be refined through all design phases.
The development team are investigating and intend on being Carbon Neutral in operation including ongoing annual certification through
Climate Active.
The Calile Hotel Noosa sustainability strategy has been positioned to enable the achievement of Carbon Neutral certification in operation.
This target will ensure attention to future carbon emissions from energy, water and waste are considered during the design and minimised
during operation.
1.2 Purpose
This sustainability strategy aims to work within the Noosa Council sustainability strategy for the Noosa region and equal the ambition of
Councils strategy.
While there are no direct sustainability planning requirements or metrics to be achieved, the development team is cognisant of the
sustainability initiatives within the Noosa Plan 2020 and Noosa Council’s sustainability commitments, including Carbon Neutral target.
Noosa Council Sustainability Principles:
1. Resources are sustainably managed so that the lifestyle of the community is preserved, without compromising the ability of future
generations to meet their own needs.
2. Noosa’s economy is prosperous, diverse and protective of its unique environment.
3. Noosa residents belong to a community that values its diversity, accessibility and affordability.
4. Noosa’s community is inclusive, connected and resilient and encourages participation and information sharing.
5. Noosa’s community benefits from quality places and programs that enhance wellbeing and support creative, active and healthy
lifestyles.
6. Good governance is achieved through effective and efficient decision making, made in the interests of the community.
With regard to the project climate change response, climate change mitigation and adaptation will be incorporated into the design:
▪ climate change "mitigation", refers to efforts that reduce greenhouse gas emissions or enhance carbon sinks
▪ climate change "adaptation", refers to our preparations for the impacts of climate change that are already here and expected to
increase in the future.
