Vegetation within the 150m assessment area surrounding the proposed development area is
characterised by tall open Eucalypt forest with vineforest understorey. The canopy has attained a height
of 40m and is dominated by Eucalyptus grandis (flooded gum), with E. resinifera (red mahogany), E.
microcorys (tallow wood), Lophostemon confertus (brush box), Syncarpia glomulifera (turpentine) and
Corymbia intermedia (pink bloodwood). The mid-storey is mid-dense and contains vine forest species
including Flindersia bennettiana (Bennett’s ash), Acronychia laevis (scented Acronychia), Notelaea
longifolia (mock olive), Alphitonia excelsa (red ash), Polyscias elegans (celerywood), Mischocarpus
pyriformis (yellow pear fruit), Wilkiea huegeliana (hairy Wilkiea) and Cryptocarya glaucescens (jackwood).
The understorey contains shrub species such as Pilidiostigma rhytispermum (small-leaved plum myrtle),
grasses such as Ottochloa nodosa (forest grass), sedges such as Scleria sphacelata and ferns such as
Blechnum cartilagineum (gristle fern). This vegetation community is analogous with Vegetation Hazard
Class 8.1 (VHC 8.1) which is described as Wet Eucalypt Tall open forests (QFES, 2019). Plate 8 depicts
typical conditions within the open Eucalypt forest within the assessment area. The remainder of the
vegetation within the 150m assessment area was low hazard mowed/slashed grass with low density
woody vegetation. This vegetation community is analogous with Vegetation Hazard Class 41.4 (VHC 41.4)
which is described as Discontinuous low grass or tree cover (QFES, 2019).
