PLANNING & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 13 OCTOBER 2015
As previously advised, Council engaged the services of a bushfire consultant to assess the
applicant’s claims due to the significance of these trees based on the koala food values of
these trees, the scenic amenity values they provide and their contribution to the
environmental values of the covenant areas. The bushfire consultant concluded the
vegetation is not a risk to life and/or property and/or environment should the area become
involved in a bushfire. He also stated the covenant area is a low bushfire hazard area.
Council’s environment officer recommends the retention of the trees within the covenant
area as they do not materially affect the bushfire risk associated with the covenant area, the
trees are ecologically significant, are primary koala food trees and the trees provide scenic
amenity values.
