Attachment B - Soil test report
The sandy soils encountered are susceptible to collapse when unconfined. This may effect excavations and result
in additional earthworks and increased concrete volumes. Temporary shoring or Forma-Tube may be required to
retain the sands prior to concreting.
The samples classified on-site were assessed as having negligible plasticity, therefore laboratory testing was
considered unnecessary.
We have calculated the following Ys value for the soil profile:
Ys = 20-30 mm
The following foundation material will provide a safe bearing capacity (100 kPa) for buildings within the scope of AS
2870-2011.
FOUNDATION MATERIAL - NATURAL MEDIUM DENSE SILTY SAND
We strongly recommend that any footing design for this allotment be carried out by a suitably qualified
person in accordance with AS2870-2011.
Where site drainage and landscaping does not conform to the specifications of AS 2870-2011 and CSIRO
Information Service Sheet BTF-18 (2003) damage to the building can be expected. A single copy of this
